Board of Directors

The company supports the concept of an effective board leading and controlling the company which is responsible for approving company policy and strategy.

The Board consists of three Executive Directors, who hold key operational positions in the Company and two Non-Executive Directors, who bring a breadth of experience and knowledge, both of whom are independent of management and any business or other relationship which could interfere with the exercise of their independent judgement. This provides a balance whereby the Board’s decision making cannot be dominated by an individual or small group.

Tony Hewitt - Executive Chairman
Tony is the founder director of Parkwood. He is a chartered forester by profession and has spent many years in forestry before broadening his experience into horticulture, leisure, facilities management and healthcare.

Andrew Holt - Director
Andrew joined the Group Board in 1997 and has full responsibility for Parkwood’s Leisure division. He was previously involved in sport and leisure management in both the public and private sectors.

Mike Quayle - Group Finance Director
Mike joined the Parkwood Group on 6th July 2009.  He spent 14 years with KPMG before acting as Finance Director for the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive and then Group Finance Director for European Colour Plc.

Richard Tolkien - Senior Independent Non executive Director
Richard was appointed a non-executive director in May 2006. Richard has management and advisory experience gained in senior corporate finance and executive roles with Morgan Grenfell, HSBC and Macquarie Bank. He is also a non-executive director of Share plc and acts as an Independent Expert Witness.

Sarah Kling - Non executive Director
A former partner of Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) and KPMG, Sarah Kling has more than 20 years experience of auditing, accounting and taxation for quoted and other companies. Latterly she specialised in director and employee remuneration.
